Check that the two safety sensors near the floor are clean and their lights are on. A bag or leaf in the way is enough to stop the door.
Replace the remote battery first. Also check the 'lock' button on the wall control isn't switched on.
This usually means a broken or worn spring. Stop using the door and call us — don't try to fix springs yourself.
Lubricate hinges and rollers with garage door lubricant (not grease). If it's still loud, worn rollers may need replacing.
Pull the red emergency cord to open the door by hand. Re-engage it when power returns by running the opener once.
If you hear a loud bang, see a gap in a spring, notice frayed cables, or the door is crooked or off its track, stop using it right away. These issues get worse — and more dangerous — when the opener keeps trying to move the door.
